Jul. 25th, 2012

On the drive home this evening, July 25th, 2012, my mom and I noticed a small grey animal jumping up and down in the middle of a grass field between an abandoned church and a small strip of outlet shops. We immediately pulled over, and slowly walked towards the grass field where we had seen the animal. It turned out to be the tiniest grey kitten with the sweetest, lightest blue eyes you could imagine. She made the tiniest meow, so sweet.

Walking back to the car, we placed her gently in an open box, and my mom sat with her in the car. Our plan was to take her home, and give her a place to stay for the night until we could go to a vet and see if she had worms, adopt her, etc.

On the drive home, however, as luck would have it we found an emergency animal hospital, and took her in. Upon examining her, the vet said that this little cat was apparently kicked or slammed into, and has a broken back leg. We had to leave her there to get taken care of. They're going to let her be on bed rest for 3-4 weeks.

The vets informed us, calling our house, that the cat's leg is pretty much shattered. They are hoping that because of her age, and after bed rest, she may not need it. However, it is likely she would have a limp for the rest of her lif.

I do not have a personal photo of the cat because I did not have my camera with me, and I do not have smartphone/cellphone that takes pictures. We are planning to return to the vet, to see her, and hopefully get a picture of her.

I have started a blog in her honor, and we are asking for donations. If you have even a penny to spare, please consider donating at her blog Any amount would be so, so, so appreciated.
